The Place of Prayer in Partnering With God
Most often in life, success doesn’t come as quickly as expected. Business undertaking is not an exception. But reassuringly, success breakthrough is certain as one partners with God, the Master Entrepreneur. God wants us to both
- pray to know His will, and then
- work hard to make His will happen.
Prayer is a conversation with God; it’s neither a formula nor a magic. However, the characteristics of a true prayer include:
• True prayer is an expression of our trust in God.
• It's very helpful in shaping our hearts.
• It brings about solution to us as we draw near to Him in a mutual involvement. (James 4:8)
Our heavenly Father is always awaiting us to come to Him; always ready to listen to us and help. Therefore, when it seems there’s no way, refuel yourself through prayer and move on.
It’s true we don’t know all of God’s ways, but we do know that He is good. And, nothing is beyond His control and timing.
Nevertheless, we should understand that God uses our present circumstances to prepare us for the future. For He is with us in all our struggle.(Isaiah 41:13)
Undeniably, great things happen in the place of prayer for those who know their God. Therefore, any believer who does not take prayer seriously cannot be, or is not, intimate with God.
Those who hurry into or out of prayer cannot experience God’s revelation.

Tarry Before the LORD God
It’s been discovered that our attitude about God informs our attitudes towards prayer. Certainly, these attitudes are built upon our accumulated experiences which, in turn, affect our expectations. It’s a settled way of thinking, not an emotion.
That’s to say, what we believe about God’s character, and our experiences, inform what we believe we can expect in our prayer life.
The key question we must ask ourselves in relation to prayer is, what is our father in heaven like? Nonetheless, it’s true that —
- In prayer, God responds in his sovereign will to our requests.
- God will never give us something that is bad for us, or trick us.
- All good gifts we receive from God flow from the greatest and sacrificial gift of His son, Jesus Christ.
Matthew 7:7-11
Summary
Although God knows all things, He chooses to work through our requests to achieve His good purposes in us, and through us.
Therefore, when we pray, it should be with full faith, trust, acceptance and persistence; knowing that, for the sake of Christ, he always hears our prayers.(1 John 3:22)
