The Entrepreneur’s Greatest Asset
It might amaze you to learn that the greatest ever essential in entrepreneurship (or making money) is NOT money itself or equipment but the mind! For business idea is a product of the mind.
Mind, the Chief Tool
The mind is very powerful; it influences the entire human body, the immediate environment as well as other individuals, close or far.
Consider these simple facts; oh, basic truths:
• Right idea prospers a business.
• Right attitude sustains the business.
Both, of course, spring from the mind; the right idea and attitude are product of the mind.
Obviously, the greatest “tool” in any vocation or trade is the mind of the individual.
Other Great Assets
Apart from the individual’s mind, there are other ‘tools’ of venture.
The great asset next to the mind is Time; and next is Capital or money. Their interrelationship may be expressed this way:
Mind is the engine of a business vehicle.
While Time is the road, and
Money is the gas or fuel.
Undoubtedly, the quality of the entrepreneur’s or businessman’s mind is the sole determinant of any business success, anywhere, any time, any age.
The golden rule is: Rule first your heart before You aim to rule the world.
Therefore, starting right is with building positive life principles in yourself.
Set Your Values
If you don’t have a specific set of values that is entirely your own, you can’t stick to any value. For instance, you might be easily tempted by good food, catchy television shows, or swayed by the influence and politics of other people.
Therefore, define yourself:
• Who am I?
• What’s important to me? and
• What am I about?
Getting a Framework
Here’s an example of a set of self values:
• I’m a unique and priceless personality; wonderfully made to work with God (Psalms 139:14).
• I can do all things, according to the grace given me (Philippians 4:13).
• All I desire is freedom from all kinds of poverty (Matthew 6:33).
• I acknowledge that nothing good comes cheaply (Proverbs 22:29; Luke 21:19).
• I’ll never give up my desire. For, I have the Spirit of Excellence (2 Timothy 1:7).
• I’ll train to empower and strengthen my mind in the Word of God (Joshua 1:8,9).
• I’m unstoppable by any vice or situation because I’m more than conqueror (Romans 8:28,37).
• I’ll give quality service or product in exchange for the money of my dream (Colossians 3:23).
• I have no justification for alibi. There’s no excuse to explain away my inadequacy (Proverbs 20:4).
• There’s no substitute for dignity, for humility and for fairness; none for hardworking (Galatians 6:7)
“If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for everything.” (Alice Cooper)
Summary
Mind is the greatest tool God has given us. By the power of the mind, we are like God; for we can create things or change the situation of something. And we can, and should, train our mind to be more efficient and more productive.
Also, having a set of self values and getting married to it, helps one to avoid getting derailed.
